Cuba receives humanitarian aid from Russia

Cuba has received 24-ton humanitarian aid from Russia, Rossiyskaya Gazeta reports. The batch included medical protective suits and syringes.

Last November, Moscow handed over almost 700 tons of sunflower oil to Cuba under the auspices of the UN as part of the World Food Program (WFP). The cost of the humanitarian cargo amounted to about three million dollars. More than 500 tons of oil were brought to Havana, almost 160 tons - to Santiago de Cuba.

Earlier, Russia completed the first stage of a humanitarian action, delivering medicines, medical devices and essential goods worth almost $26,000 were delivered to Cuba. More than 250 people and 13 organizations from 32 regions of Russia took part in the action.

The action is carried out by the Russian Society for Friendship with Cuba and the Russian Humanitarian Action organization with the support of the Russian Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Rossotrudnichestvo, as well as the diplomatic missions of Russia in Cuba and Cuba in Russia.
