Russian singer Manizha has become a member of Equal, an international program to support women in the music industry, launched by the Spotify streaming service. A portrait of the singer was placed on a big screen in the center of New York, Rossiyskaya Gazeta reports.

Manizha gained international fame thanks to last year's Eurovision Song Contest, where the singer represented Russia. The ''Russian Woman'' song performed by Manizha, took ninth place in the competition and gained many fans thanks to its original sound and folk motifs.

Later, the singer released the English-language track ''Now or Never'', which were discovered by the organizers of the Equal program.

The program involves performers from 50 countries. Tracks by its participants are united into albums to help promote their work. In addition to Manizha's songs, songs by Polina Gagarina, Zivert and other Russian performers are included in the program.
