Russia gains popularity as winter attraction for foreign tourists

The number of foreign tourists in Russia in the current winter season has increased by 75% compared to last winter. Residents of Thailand, Azerbaijan and the United Arab Emirates come to celebrate the New Year in Russia, Kurgan and the Kurgans newspaper reports.

The growth of interest in tours to winter Russia has been noted by Megafon. The increase in demand began at the end of last December. 

Thailand showed the largest growth - the number of tourists from this country was 45 times higher than in the previous year. The number of Azerbaijani tourists increased by more than 20 times. Winter Russia attracted seven times more UAE residents than a year earlier.

In terms of the number of tourists coming to Russia, for the second year in a row, the list of countries is headed by China, the top five includes the USA, Turkey, Thailand and Israel.
