The Stories Festival of Short Plays started on Thursday, January 20, TASS reports. It is being held for the 3rd time at the site of the St. Petersburg Saturday Theater.

The organizers received almost 150 texts no more than 12 pages long. Of these, only seven made it to the final list. They will be presented by theater actors in a hall that can seat no more than 35 people. Of the seven sketches, no more than two will be chosen, which will turn into full-fledged productions.

For the first time, students of the Moscow Art Theater School from Viktor Ryzhakov's workshop joined the festival.

According to the artistic director of the festival, Tatyana Dzhurova, the format of short plays is not widely spread in the country. It is very important, she added, that the festival is tied to the theatre. In this case, the plays get the opportunity of stage life.

Authors from Germany, Portugal, and China joined the Russian participants of the festival. All texts were selected anonymously.
