The "Emperor Peter the Great and his diplomat Savva Vladislavich-Raguzinsky" historical exhibition kicked off at the Montenegrin theater Niksic. The local mayor noted the contribution of the emperor and the Russian diplomat with Serbian roots to the development of relations between Russia and Montenegro, the Russian House telegram channel reports.

The descendant of the diplomat, Branko Vukomanovic, helped create the exposition with the support of the Russian Embassy in Montenegro, the Niksic Theater and the city administration, as well as the Saint George Society of Montenegrin-Russian Friendship.

The exhibition was previously held in the cities of Serbia, and visitors in Russia and Bosnia and Herzegovina also got acquainted with it. The head of the municipality of Niksic, Marko Kovacevic, noted the contribution of Peter the Great, Savva Raguzinsky and Montenegrin Bishop Danil Petrovich Negosh to the development of relations between the two countries. He recalled that Russia became the protector and patroness of Montenegro and the Serbs.

At the end of June, a monument to Peter the Great, whose 350th anniversary is being celebrated in Russia and abroad, was unveiled in the Sremski Karlovci, Serbia. A bronze bust monument is installed on the main square of the city.
