The largest portrait of Van Gogh is being created in Sochi, Krasnodar News reports. Eleven artists began painting the large-scale graffiti in the Rosa Khutor mountain resort on Friday, July 29.  Representatives of the Guinness Book of Records will be invited to record the result.

The authors of the work admitted that the idea appeared spontaneously. According to them, the project will embody "the topic of nature and the eternal."

The portrait is being created on an area of 1,600 square meters, the site is located at an altitude of 1100 meters above sea level. Two days and over 500 kilograms of paint will be used to create the graffiti.

In early spring, the image of amous children's writer Korney Chukovsky adorned one of the rocks in Cape Town. The portrait was created by the street artist group from St. Petersburg, HoodGraff. The portrait was painted on a sheer cliff in black, gray and white.

The artists noted that they tried to acquaint the inhabitants of South Africa with the work of Korney Chukovsky.
