US banks withhold retirement benefits of Russian citizens in Israel, Ivan Nechaev, deputy spokesman for the Russian Foreign Ministry, said. He noted that representatives of the relevant departments of Russia and Israel are jointly looking for a way out of this situation, TASS reports.

According to the diplomat, the benefits of Russians living in Israel do not reach their recipients due to the actions of American banks. Nechaev called the withholding of funds sent to citizens by the Russian Pension Fund illegal, and said that tens of thousands of Russians suffer from the actions of US financial institutions.

Russia and Israel are working together to resolve the problem, last Wednesday the parties held a video conference, and discussed ways to resolve the situation.

The actions of banks in a number of Western countries prevent recipients from receiving funds from Russia. In July, it became known that some ''war children'' who could not receive funds from Russia suffered from the anti-Russian and Russophobic policies of Spanish banks.
