Russian films have become participants in the main competition program of the Shanghai International Film Festival (SIFF). The festival will open on June, 9 for the 25th time, TASS reports.

The Russian-Georgian film NINA by Russian director Oksana Bychkova is competing in the full-length films category. The film's rivals in the fight for the main award of the film forum will be 11 films from Europe and Asia.

Two more Russian films - Andrey Krechetov's The House We Lived In and Yuri Boguslavsky's The Stolen Melody  are claiming victory among short films and animated films, respectively.

Russian films were among the 53 films that were included in the competition program of the Shanghai Film Festival by the decision of the jury. Almost 9,000 films from 128 states and regions of the planet were submitted to the forum.

Over the 30 years of the festival's existence, Russian filmmakers have become its winners and jury members. Two years ago, Alexei Kozlov's film Conscience received screenplay and cinematography awards.
