Russia’s 2011 state budget will be brought before the State Duma for consideration in October. While it may seem that this event is far off, the draft budget that was circulated a few days ago should concern those working the sphere of culture, where state financing my be cut. Today an exhibit opens at the Central Museum of the Great Patriotic War on Poklonnaya Gora. On display are a top designs for a memorial project titled “We Fought against Fascism Together”.
Mikhail Khubutia, president of the Union of Georgians in Russia, said that the exhibit will be open for a week, during which all visitors will have the opportunity to vote to select the their favorite memorial project. Yaroslavl prepares to celebrate the 1000 anniversary of its founding. And this won’t be an easy task – the city has 100 days left to spend 28 billion rubles allocated by the federal government to set things in order for the event.
