BBC TV Channel started a campaign to discredit Football World Championship scheduled for the next year in Russia, representatives of the Russian diplomatic mission in London commented about BBC documentary “Army of Russian vandals”, as per RIA Novosti.

The Embassy officials remarked that the documentary was designed to discredit the forthcoming competition and arouse fear among the British. The film is based on the events, which happened at the European Championship in France last year where clashes between Russian and British fans resulted in dozens of injured British fans. Two people even skipped into a coma. Despite Russians were in minority, they fought better.

It should be reminded that after Russia-England football match dated June 11, the fans of both teams got into a fight at the tribune. Many witnesses noticed that this incident happened because of unskilled work of French police officers who could not isolate fans from each other.

Russian diplomats remark that the documentary makes a shocking impression on the audience. After watching the movie, it seems that the British documentarians tried to make the society fear for life and health of people going to World Championship in Russia.

The Embassy representatives added that similar campaign was launched before the Olympics in Sochi.
