Russian and French foreign ministers talk about the Minsk Agreements

Foreign ministers of Russia and France met in Paris to discuss several topical issues related to conflicts in Syria, Ukraine and Libya, RIA Novosti reports. Sergey Lavrov and his French counterpart Jean-Yves Le Drian have confirmed again the importance of the fulfillment of the Minsk Agreements.

Sergey Lavrov have recalled that the agreement was signed with all parties to a conflict with Normandy Four being a guarantor. Moreover, it was approved by by the UN Security Council . Lavrov urged the Ukrainian authorities to carry out the obligations set forth in this agreement in order to overcome a deadlock situation in south-east Ukraine.

Politicians also discussed Syrian situation and international terrorism. Talking about forthcoming negotiations in Geneva under the aegis of the United Nations, Sergey Lavrov mentioned that he had an opportunity to review the approaches with the Special Representative Staffan de Mistura. Both Foreign ministers have expressed the hope that another round of high-level talks will be conducted in the constructive manner.

Resuming of the political dialog in 2+2 format was also discussed at the meeting.
