Syria: Photo Chronicles of War exhibition by Russian photojournalists is opened in European Parliament venue in Strasbourg, RIA Novosti informs. Exposition consists of fifty photos taken by media group Russia Today and All-Russian State Television and Radio Broadcasting Company. The photos reveal the military conflict in Syria through people’s lives destroyed by long-lasting war.

Works by such famous journalists such as Valery Melnikov, Ilya Pitalyov and Mikhail Alaeddin as well as some other Russian war correspondents who had business trips to Syria many times exhibited there.

Head of Russia Today agency’s photo service Alexander Shtol has acknowledged that it was hard to organize exhibition inside European Parliament. He has expressed satisfaction that Russian journalists had an opportunity to demonstrate the deputies wonderful works of absolutely daring and courageous people. Shtol has also added that separate pictures are documentary evidence of war horrors going on in Syria and, above all, they have some artistic value. He has expressed hope that present exhibition would enable European Parliament members to reconsider the conflict and contribute to development of peaceful processes in Syria.

The present exhibition is a part of international tour of Syrian Photo Chronicles abroad. It was organized in the State Duma of the Russian Federation at the beginning of 2017. The exposition was presented in Bucharest and then in Vienna in May.
