Patriarch Kirill paid condolences to the relatives and friends of the victims of the attack on the Orthodox Church in Grozny. The Head of the Russian Orthodox Church expressed assuredness that this was an attempt to disrupt the interreligious peace in the Republic, TASS informs.

“This is inhuman and cynical prank of the terrorists having nothing in common with faith in God. It was directed at disrupting valuable interreligious peace and concordance of the region, sowing fear and hatred among the people,” the condolences’ message reads.

The Islamic State terrorist grouping banned in Russia is accountable for the attack on Archangel Michael’s Church.

Last Saturday four unknown people made an attempt to capture the Church and kill everybody inside. The believers managed to lock the door breaking the attack of the gunmen. According to the eyewitnesses, the terrorists were shooting through the window. The congregation members did not suffer, but the bullets damaged the icons. The attackers tried to kill the wife of Priest Sergei.

Two police officers guarding the temple and one member of the congregation died as a result of this attack. Two more police officers were wounded. All the terrorists were annihilated.
