KAMAZ-master wins the race again

KAMAZ-master crew led by Eduard Nikolaev won the Dakar Rally in the trucks category, Izvestiya informs. One more Russian crew of KAMAZ-master led by Dmitry Sotnikov took the second place. Gerard de Rooy with Iveco team from the Netherlands became the third.

Dakar finale was held in Lima, Peru on January 17. The the 41st Rally’s root ran through only one country for the first time and was about 5000 kilometer long.

This is the fourth victory of Eduard Nikolaev. He steps on the top of Rally’s podium third year in a row. According to Nikolaev, teamwork helped to win the race.

Two more KAMAZ-master crews led by Airat Mardeev and Andrey Karginov dropped out of the race.

As Russkiy Mir informed, KAMAZ-master team won more than 15 times before, which is a record-breaking number for rally participants. Team members work on design and construction of the trucks by themselves. The team drives only Russian trucks since its founding, which encourages the popularization of motor sport and the promotion of Russian machinery on a world level.
