The Commemorative Week dedicated to the anniversary of liberation of Auschwitz starts on January 21, TASS informs. On this day, Soviet soldiers liberated the concentration camp, where fascists killed more than 2 million people.

Many events will take place to remind of the victims of Holocaust, which became one of the most terrific delinquencies in the history of humanity.

The opening of Saviors expo will be one of the major events. It will take place in Moscow City Museum. Multimedia exposition will tell about all the righteous men of the peoples of the world in our country for the first time. This title is attributable to the people of various nationalities, who sheltered Jews on territories occupied by fascists in mortal danger. More than 200 people have this title in Russia. The dialogue between saviors and the saved will involve the visitors of the museum.

Large education programme will be held for children. The performance class about an outstanding teacher, doctor and writer Janusz Korczak will take place in the memorial synagogue on Poklonnaya Hill. Korczak did not leave his pupils and died with them at the concentration camp. Victory Museum will also hold the virtual journey to the history of war for children. Commemorative events will take place in Murmansk, Samara, Chelyabinsk, Tula and other regions.

The Keeper of Memory award ceremony will become the culmination of the Commemorative Week. It will be held for the first time. People who made a significant personal contribution to preserving the memory of Holocaust will receive the award.

The International Holocaust Remembrance Day is celebrated annually on January 27.
