Russia and Mexico United by Space Week of Cosmonautics started in Mexico City

The Cosmonautics Week opened at the National Autonomous University of Mexico, according to the Rossotrudnichestvo website. It is held under the motto "Russia and Mexico, United by Space."

The opening of The History of Russian Cosmonautics: the Discoverers of Outer Space exhibition was timed to the solemn ceremony. The exhibits were the works of young Mexican artists Gabriela Oliveros, Daniela Oliveros and Paco Marquez.

Engravings from Vladimir Belikov’s Sky. Space. Man (Myths, Legends, Reality). Engravings of 16-20th Centuries collection were also presented.

The program of the Cosmonautics Week will include the screening of the Signus science fiction film by Mexican director Hugo Felix Mercado. The Astronautics and Scientific Collaboration: Perspectives and Contemporary Challenges conference is also scheduled. 

As Russkiy Mir reported, more than a hundred different events will take place around the world as part of Yuri Night. It received its name in honor of Yuri Gagarin. The action became an annual tradition. It was held in 2001 for the first time. 

According to the organizers of the action, they want to note "the past, present and future of manned flights into space". The main goal of Yuri Night is to draw public attention to the achievements of the space industry and to interest young people in flying into space. 

Gagarin's Lesson: Cosmos is Us action will take place in 97 countries around the world. The project is aimed at young audience. Its main goal is to promote the achievements of our country in the field of science and technology, and to strengthen cooperation between countries in space exploration.
