Arctic tourism is becoming increasingly popular and more fashionable, according to Rostourism. But in order for it to be further developed, it is extremely important to work on creating the appropriate infrastructure, TASS reports.

According to deputy head of Rostourism Sergey Korneev, this needs to be addressed at the regional level. He said this during a speech at The Arctic - the territory of united competencies Arctic Congress in Saint-Petersburg.

The representative of Rostourism noted that the fashion for Arctic exoticism appeared not so long ago, and the trend was growing very actively from scratch.

Tourists want authenticity, ecology, thrills, clear skies, and they can get all this in the Arctic. The demand, Korneev notes, makes the tourism industry grow, primarily the cruise industry, which is a powerful and mobile sector.

Demand for such tourism exists, and it is growing. Russia remains in a strong position, because the world tourism sphere captures Murmansk, Arkhangelsk, Franz Josef Land, Svalbard. These places include large and expeditionary cruises.

Note, that the Northern Sea Route was included in the list of the most interesting cruises in the world. Traveling along the Northern Sea Route takes about a month. It is only available in July, August and September. The route was opened for commercial navigation five years ago, but now it is accessible to everyone. The trip begins in Russian Anadyr or in the American Nome in Alaska. Then the path runs through the Chukchi Sea to Murmansk.

The Arctic direction is very important for the development of the country's tourism sector, since most of Russia is located in the Arctic zone. This makes it possible to offer a unique product that has no competition around the world. Among the most popular services are cruises to the North Pole. Arctic cruises are also developing in the east of Russia - in Chukotka.
