First working prototype of quantum computer on superconductors assembled in Russia

Russia's first prototype of a quantum computer based on superconductors was tested at the Moscow Institute of Steel and Alloys (MISiS). The device performed the specified algorithm, exceeding the previously known accuracy limit by 3%. Experts at the University’s Laboratory of Superconducting Metamaterials are working on the computer, according to HiTech+.

Developers argue that devices created using superconductors can outperform classic computers in their assigned tasks. Work in this direction is carried out in many countries of the world, but so far no one has created a working model of a new generation computer. Existing prototypes demonstrate certain fundamentally new features, but they often make errors.

According to experts, if a quantum computer is developed, it will be able to perform in a matter of minutes the tasks that a modern supercomputer takes several weeks to calculate. Scientists from MISiS are convinced that Russian and foreign developments say that theoretical predictions about the capabilities of quantum computers are already confirmed in real life.
