Russia will host first beach soccer world championship in 2021

Moscow will become the capital of world beach football in two years. The International Football Federation (FIFA) for the first time chose Russia as the host of the 2021 World Cup, Chile and El Salvador also fought for the right to host the main beach soccer competitions. According to experts, the FIFA decision was influenced by the brilliant organization of the World Cup, which was held in 2018 in 11 cities of Russia, TASS reports.

Beach soccer is gaining popularity around the world every year, the number of teams and spectators is growing. Despite its geography, Russia is considered one of the leading countries in the development of beach soccer. The national team won the world championships twice - in 2011 and 2013.

The World Championship in Russia starts in July 2021 in Moscow, the Luzhniki Stadium will be the main arena. FIFA member Alexey Sorokin said that the bid of Russia was initially the leader and won with great advantage. The recent holding of the World Cup, which was named the best in history, as well as developed infrastructure, spoke in favor of Moscow.

According to Russian Deputy Prime Minister Olga Golodets, the right won by Moscow to host a prestigious tournament speaks of FIFA's high confidence in Russia as the organizer of large-scale international competitions.

The beach soccer world championship is held once every two years. The next championship will open on November 21 in Paraguay, the Russian team received a ticket to the tournament.
