The MIR Center for Russian Culture in Munich dedicated the 2020 calendar of literary events to the Russian writer and playwright Anton Chekhov in honor of his 160th birthday. One of the first events was a literary and musical evening dedicated to the biography and work of the writer, Russkoe Pole reports.

Actors and musicians performed at the evening.

The meeting participants told the guests about the most striking facts from Chekhov’s biography, and read the author's famous short stories.

The organizer of the evening was the founder of the MIR center Tatyana Lukina, who recently received a silver medal from the Mayor of Munich for services to the city in the field of culture. MIR regularly holds evenings dedicated to Russian writers. A festival dedicated to the 200th anniversary of Ivan Turgenev took place recently. Among the guests of the festival there were many Germans who thanked the organizers for "having discovered Turgenev to us."
