The exhibition of works by famous artist Ilya Glazunov was postponed until autumn, TASS reports. It was supposed to open on Wednesday, June 10, the birthday of the famous artist. This year he would have turned 90 years old.

According to the son of the artist Ivan Glazunov, rector of the Russian Academy of Painting, Sculpture and Architecture, a discussion is currently underway with the Moscow administration about the new dates for the exhibition. He expressed the hope that the exposition would take place in the second half of 2020.

The artist’s son noted that the coronavirus had forced to stop at the most active stage of preparation. The creative team had been working on it for more than a year.

Ivan Glazunov called the project "a portrait of the era against the backdrop of the artist and the artist against the backdrop of the era." Within its framework, the works of not only the master himself, but his students' as well, will be presented. Excerpts from feature films and documentaries, archival materials will complement them. An important part of the exhibition will be antiques saved by the artist, including icons. The exhibition of this scale is being organized for the first time.

Ilya Glazunov died in 2017 in Moscow. He was 88 years old. 

Fame came to him back in 1956, when he, as a student, won the Grand Prix of the international competition in Prague. During his life, the artist created several thousand paintings, portraits, drawings, illustrations for books, etc. The artist was a member of many European art academies. He was awarded medals and orders.
