More than 120 guides to cities and regions of Russia have been posted on the Kultura.RF website as part of the Discovering Russian cities special project. It is meant to help tourists to create an interesting and informative route by themselves or take a virtual trip. Locals, in their turn, can discover a lot of new things about their city and region, according to the website of the Ministry of Culture of Russia.

The visitors are invited to learn the history of Moscow and St. Petersburg, walk along the streets of ancient and modern cities, learn how to get to the land of volcanoes and geysers. The website has a user-friendly search system for the desired city and region.

The authors of the project have chosen the most striking and characteristic features of Russian regions. For example, a guide dedicated to Karelia indicates that a tourist will see “valuable cultural monuments and a calm northern nature”. It also contains comprehensive information about the cultural, historical and natural sites of the region.

According to Deputy Minister of Culture Maxim Ksenzov, the goal of the project is to show the diversity of Russian culture. The Kultura.RF website contains virtual excursions to more than 300 museums and other cultural institutions from different regions of Russia.
