The winner of the Grand Prix of the Andrei Stenin competition of photojournalists is a photographer from Spain Luis Tato, RIA Novosti reports. He was awarded for the series of images "Terrorist Attack at the DusitD2 Hotel". The author captured the tragedy that occurred at the beginning of last year in a hotel in Nairobi.

The photographer himself recalled that he has already won various prizes of the competition three times and continues to send his works to the jury. He called the competition another chance to challenge himself and improve his professional skills. Andrey Stenin's photo contest is “an opportunity to grow professionally and be inspired by the example of amazing colleagues,” the winner noted.

British journalist Linzy Billing won the "Top News" category. She was joined by Geoffre Guillemard from France, who was recognized for the "Southern Border" series; it tells about the long journey of migrants to the American border.

As Russkiy Mir reported earlier, photographers from Russia, Germany, USA, Spain, Iran and other countries were included in the competition's shortlist. They were joined for the first time by participants from the UK, Austria, Argentina, Brazil and Haiti. In total - representatives of 19 countries. More than 5,000 works were submitted to the competition. They were sent by participants from 75 countries around the world. The new season of the competition has become the 6th in a row.

Andrey Stenin died on August 6, 2014 near Donetsk, performing the task of the editorial board. The competition is intended to preserve the memory of him. Another goal is to support young photographers. During its existence, this competition has turned into a large international platform where everyone has the opportunity to express their own opinion.
