Young musicians from 23 countries to take part in Nutcracker competition

The Nutcracker television competition for young musicians will start on Tuesday, December 1, Kultura TV channel reports. The broadcasts are avialable live, on the website and on the channel's YouTube channel.

The tournament will be held for the 21st time, 48 people are taking part in it. Young talents will represent 23 countries and 12 Russian regions.

The competition will continue until December 8, with an award ceremony scheduled for that day.The musicians will compete in several categories. Among them are pianists, performers on strings, wind and percussion instruments. Their skills and talent will be assessed by a professional jury, which includes famous Russian, European and American musicians.

The first and second stages of the competitive selection will be solo or with an accompanist. As part of the final third round the participants will perform with the Academic Symphony Orchestra of the Moscow Philharmonic. The conductor's place will be taken by Mikhail Shekhtman.
 
The winners of the first, second and third prizes will be named in each category. They will receive golden, silver and bronze Nutcracker figurines. The audience will also choose their winner.

The organizers of the competition have no doubt that now, in the context of various restrictive steps, television is becoming especially important. It provides access to live music, namely music that comforts and gives strength when reality frightens with the unknown.
