An ancient temple in Spanish Granada was officially transferred to the use of the Russian Orthodox community, the website of the Russian Orthodox Church reports. The respective document was signed by the Archbishop of Madrid and Lisbon Nestor and the Archbishop of Granada Francisco Javier Martinez Fernandez. Their meeting took place in mid-October last year.

The ceremony took place last week. Fron now on, the services in the church will be held according to the Orthodox canon. The church was built in the 16th century.

The Orthodox Cathedral was recently recognized as one of the most beautiful churches in the capital of Spain. The top 6 included the Cathedral of the Spanish-Portuguese Diocese of the Russian Orthodox Church, consecrated in honor of Mary Magdalene.

The five golden domes that crown the Russian Orthodox Church attract the attention of anyone walking along Gran Via de Ortaleza, the street on which the cathedral is built. The modern white building in neo-Byzantine style was recently erected. A residential building and a cultural center Casa Rusia are located nearby. Divine services are held in the temple. Every Saturday everyone is invited to a guided tour.
