The Russian President has already submitted an agreement on the extension of the agreement to the State Duma for consideration. The law should take effect from the date of publication. It is expected to be considered in both chambers of the Russian parliament on Wednesday, January 27.

The START-3 Treaty, which entered into force on February 5, 2011, provides for a reduction in the nuclear arsenals of the two countries. Today, START III remains the only arms limitation treaty in force between Russia and the United States.

The Russian President congratulated his colleague on the start of work. He recalled that both countries bore a special responsibility for maintaining stability and security throughout the world.
