Russia and Norway agreed to expand scientific exchanges

Moscow and Oslo plan to develop cooperation in the field of science and technology, TASS reports. This is the aim of the new document, signed by the head of the Government of the Russian Federation Mikhail Mishustin. He approved the draft agreement on scientific and technical cooperation between the two countries. The document will be valid for five years with the possibility of automatic prolongation if one of the parties does not want to withdraw from it.

The agreement spells out the goals, principles and forms of joint activities. It regulates the issues of intellectual property protection, establishes the procedure for resolving disputes.

Russian-Norwegian cooperation will expand through the holding of scientific conferences, symposia and seminars. It is planned to expand academic exchange, to attract students, young scientists and teachers to it. Higher education institutions will become more actively involved in bilateral research initiatives. Also, scientists from the two countries will work together on scientific projects, engage in joint research.

Among the principles on which cooperation will be based, the authors of the document name mutual interests, equality and fair treatment of the participants. The implementation of the agreement will be coordinated by a special bilateral working group, which will determine the priority areas of cooperation.
