Russia and Iran to support 40 joint scientific projects

Russian and Iranian scientists will work together on several dozen scientific projects, TASS reports. The funds for them are allocated by the Russian Foundation for Basic Research (RFBR) and the National Science Foundation of Iran. Among the topics will be the study of the Caspian Sea. Experts will also study coronavirus infection.

Almost 370 applications were received for the grant competition. Of these, a little more than 220 were admitted to the competition. As a result, 40 projects received funding.

The list of winners included projects to improve the efficiency of detecting signs of lung damage caused by COVID-19, to study the state and characteristics of plankton communities in the Caspian Sea, to study polar cyclones over the Antarctic region and some others.

The competition was held in mathematics, physics and astronomy, chemistry, biology and many other areas.
