The Forum of Young Filmmakers started the day before, on March 18, in Sevastopol, TASS reports. It was timed to coincide with the 7th anniversary of Crimea's entry into Russia.

During the opening ceremony, the guests saw a fragment of the first Russian full-length film Battle for Sevastopol. It was filmed in Sevastopol itself more than a century ago - in 1911.

Representatives of 9 countries took part in the film festival. The program included short feature films, documentaries and animation films by young directors from Russia, Canada, Israel, Peru and other countries. The program includes the best works of the VGIK International Student Festival.

According to the organizers, the forum is aimed at supporting young cinematography. It also helps to draw public attention to those who will promote Russian cinema and television in the future. Such festivals contribute to the consolidation of filmmakers from Russia and abroad.

Films shot in Crimea will be presented at the festival. Karen Shakhnazarov will present his drama Anna Karenina, and Garik Sukachev - The House of the Sun. Director Grigory Kolomiytsev's debut Chupacabra will also be screened during the festival. Its premiere was included in the program of the San Sebastian International Film Festival in September 2020.

The Development of Debut Cinematography discussion is going to bring together foreign and Russian specialists, young directors and students, who will discuss the roles of debuts in cinema. Participants will be invited to master classes with actor and director Alexander Galibin and with the rector of the Rome Film School, Adriano De Santis.
