Indian cosmonauts completed a training course in Russia on the basis of an agreement signed between the space departments of the two countries in 2019. Among other things, the training included the study of the Russian language, which is the international language of communication in orbit. Russia plans to apply the experience gained from working with foreign cosmonauts to organize a space tourism program, Interfax reports.

The head of Roscosmos Dmitry Rogozin spoke about the implementation of the project, having met with the graduates of the Russian training program at the Indian Embassy in Russia and discussed with the head of the Indian diplomatic mission further cooperation in the space sector. In particular, in the future, Russia may undertake the training of specialists who will prepare people for space flights.

As part of the training, Indian cosmonauts underwent a course of special training, medical examinations, studied Russian and received technical knowledge on the structure of the Soyuz spacecraft. It is reported that graduates of the Russian program will return home and begin preparations for work on the spacecraft, which is being created in India.
