Almost 2,500 applications were sent for the Lyceum literary prize, according to the website of the award.

Recall that the prize, which bears the name of Pushkin, was established for young writers and poets aged 15 to 35 years old, writing in Russian. The authors themselves, as well as regional publishers and the media, could nominate works. The competition accepted works published from January 1, 2020, and manuscripts.

This competition has become the 5th in a row. The organizers received about 1,300 prose works and 1,200 poetry works.

The organizing committee noted that among the contestants there are poets and writers from all over Russia. In addition, applications were sent by young writers from all CIS countries. Together with them, Russian-speaking authors from various European countries - Japan, Indonesia, Vietnam, the United Arab Emirates, Canada, the United States and others - will fight for victory.

The average age of participants is 26, which is three years less than last season.

According to experts, many texts reflect the brightest and most painful impression of last year - the coronavirus pandemic and its consequences.
