The Garden of Memory international action, within the framework of which trees are planted in many countries of the world in memory of Soviet soldiers who died in battles with the Nazis, was held in Bucharest. Birches, considered one of the symbols of Russia, were planted at the memorial in the Romanian capital, where Soviet soldiers who died during World War II in the battles for the freedom of Europe are buried, the Russian Embassy in Romania reports on Facebook.

The action was attended by the Russian ambassador to Romania Valery Kuzmin, military attaché Viktor Makovsky, representatives of Rossotrudnichestvo and Russian companies operating in Romania, as well as teachers and students of the school at the Russian embassy.

As part of the campaign launched last year to mark the 75th anniversary of the Victory of the Great Patriotic War, 27 million trees will be planted around the world in memory of those who died during the war. Earlier, the actions took place on city streets, memorials, embassies and other places in the regions of Russia, neighboring countries, as well as the states of Europe, Asia and Africa.
