Air traffic between Russia and Egypt will be restored in full, TASS reports. According to the press secretary of the President of the Russian Federation Dmitry Peskov, the leaders of the two countries Vladimir Putin and Abdel Fattah al-Sisi agreed on this. In particular, planes from Russia will fly to the resorts of Hurghada and Sharm el-Sheikh.

The Kremlin noted that the decision to resume flights was taken after the specialists of the two countries finished ensuring high standards of aviation security at Egyptian airports. Dmitry Peskov expressed confidence that the restoration of flights is consistent with the friendly nature of relations between the two countries and peoples.

The heads of state also discussed the supply of Russian COVID-19 vaccines to Egypt and the organization of their release on the spot.

The air traffic was interrupted in 2015 after the largest plane crash in the history of Russian and Soviet aviation. 224 people became victims of the tragedy. No one managed to survive. After the incident, the flights of Russian aircraft to Egypt were suspended. The International Technical Commission, which investigated the causes of the disaster, concluded that a bomb had been planted in the tail section of the liner, and qualified the incident as a terrorist attack.
