International Garden of Peace action started the day before, on April 25. It was organized by the Eurasian Peoples' Assembly, the Continent of the USA Russian House, the International Center for Public Diplomacy of the MEPhI National Research Nuclear University, and the International Council of Russian Compatriots. The beginning of the action was timed to coincide with the anniversary of the meeting on the Elbe. On this day, 76 years ago, soldiers of the Soviet and American armies met.

The action is held under the "Let's keep the world - plant a tree - save the planet" motto. Its key task is to consolidate all mankind in the name of peace, tranquility and development of our planet.

The first events brought together representatives from nearly 20 countries. They were joined by residents of Russia, the United States, Canada, Kyrgyzstan, Luxembourg, Ukraine, France and other states.

The action began in the village of Nelidovo at the mass grave of the Panfilov heroes. After laying flowers at the memorial in memory of the fallen heroes, 28 trees were planted there.

According to Andrei Belyaninov, who heads the Eurasian Peoples' Assembly, 80 years ago, showing an example of fraternal unity, courage and heroism, representatives of many nations held the defense near Moscow shoulder to shoulder.

Participants planted trees on April 25, the day of the historic meeting on the Elbe, when in 1945 Soviet and American soldiers shook hands to bring victory closer. By this they reminded that peace on earth, for the sake of which our ancestors fell, can be established only together.

In addition, trees were planted at the Spirit of the Elbe memorial on Poklonnaya Gora. Russian and American public figures and diplomats gathered there. Young conservationists opened the action at VDNKh exhibition park.
