The Brazilian authorities' refusal to use the Russian Sputnik V vaccine is politically motivated, according to the developers of the drug. The scientists claim that they provided the national sanitary inspection agency Anvisa with all the necessary documents and all the necessary information, Lenta.ru reports.

The creators of the vaccine expressed the hope that the decision will be based on scientific considerations, and not pressure from the capital of a foreign country.

Earlier, Anvisa gave a negative response to the appeal from the regions of the country regarding the import and use of Sputnik V.

Earlier, it was reported that the American Ministry of Health used diplomatic tools to counteract competing countries. In particular, it was reported that the United States tried to influence the Brazilian authorities in order to make the South American country refuse to use the Russian vaccine.

Prior to this, the Brazilian Ministry of Science recognized Sputnik V as a safe vaccine, and also approved the commercial release of the drug in the country. It was launched by one of the largest Brazilian pharmaceutical companies, Uniao Quimica. Among the first, 20 Brazilians who work in the embassy in the Russian Federation were vaccinated.
