Russia and Germany plan to jointly investigate the crimes of the fascists committed during the Great Patriotic War, TASS reports. The Investigative Committee of the Russian Federation is studying the issue of creating an investigation group that will unite representatives of law enforcement agencies of the two countries.

According to the representative of the UK Sergey Petrov, the decision was made "on the basis of Regulation 2 of the additional protocol to the European Convention on Mutual Legal Assistance in Criminal Matters."

In addition, the Investigative Committee interacts with its Estonian, Canadian and German counterparts during the investigation of criminal cases, in which inquiries have been sent to other countries.

Earlier, the unit for investigating crimes related to falsification of the history of the Fatherland and the rehabilitation of Nazism became part of the Investigative Committee of the Russian Federation. It is working to identify the perpetrators of crimes committed during the war. First of all, its activities are focused on the implementation of the principle of the inevitability of punishment. Also, the priority remains to work on preventing history rewriting.
