South Korea to host festival dedicated to 200th anniversary of Dostoevsky

Competitions for essays, presentations, drawings and translations are included in the Pushkin Festival, which will be held in South Korea. This year it is timed to coincide with the 200th anniversary of Fyodor Dostoevsky, the events will be held online, according to the website of the Russian Cultural and Educational Center Pushkin House in Seoul.

The festival was organized by the Pushkin House Center, the Russian Embassy in South Korea, and the Rossotrudnichestvo office in the country. The festival is supported by the Gorky Institute of World Literature.

Residents of South Korea of ​​different ages and levels of Russian language proficiency will be able to take part in the events. The program included an essay competition for schoolchildren and an essay competition dedicated to the life and work of Fyodor Dostoevsky, a drawing competition based on his works and a competition for translating the works of the Russian classic.

Applications and creative works are accepted remotely, and the names of the winners will also be announced online. The Pushkin House is said to host the Pushkin Festival annually to expand cultural exchange between South Korea and Russia, as well as provide an opportunity for Korean students to become more familiar with the Russian language and culture.
