An exhibition of photographs dedicated to the 200th anniversary of the independence of Greece has started to work in the building of the Greek Parliament. The exposition features photographs stored in the archives of TASS news agency. It was prepared as part of the Cross Year of the History of Russia and Greece.

The opening ceremony of the exhibition took place the day before, on June 7. It was attended by Russian diplomats together with Russian Ambassador Andrei Maslov, Greek diplomats and parliamentarians, and many others.

According to the deputy general director of TASS Mikhail Gusman, the peoples of the two countries are united by common history, and this connection goes far into the depths of the centuries. In addition, the common Orthodox culture determines the closeness between Russians and Greeks.

During these 200 years, the Greek and Russian people were allies in the world wars, many times the Greeks asked and received help from Russia on the most important matters for them.

The exhibition presents historical and modern photographs dedicated to the interaction of the two countries in various fields.
