Cross Year of History of Russia and Greece includes almost 150 events

The cross year of the history of Russia and Greece starts on Friday, July 2, according to the website of the Russian Foreign Ministry. A celebration in its honor is planned in Athens.

According to the spokesman for the Russian Foreign Ministry Maria Zakharova, the ceremony will be attended by the chairman of the Russian Military-Historical Society Vladimir Medinsky and the head of the Greek parliamentary fund Evanfis Hadzivasiliu, who head the organizing committee of the year.

The cross-year program includes about 150 events. Some of them have already taken place. Feature films and documentaries, educational expeditions will be complemented by art and documentary exhibitions. Russian and Greek scientists will meet at conferences. 

The cross year is timed to coincide with the 200th anniversary of the beginning of the Greek Revolution. The representative of the Russian Foreign Ministry Maria Zakharova explained that many events will be devoted to the issues of the national liberation struggle of the Greek people and the role of Russia in the liberation of the country.
