More than 100,000 Russians restore cultural monuments

More than 100,000 people have joined the community of cultural volunteers, TASS reports. They take part in activities aimed at the restoration and preservation of cultural monuments.

According to the Deputy Head of the Ministry of Culture Olga Yarilova, more than 2,000 volunteer centers for culture have been established in the country. She thanked everyone involved in organizing the work of volunteers. In particular, Yarilova mentioned the work on the restoration of monuments of wooden architecture in various Russian regions, including St. Petersburg and Karelia.

The minister hopes that the number of cultural volunteers will increase every year, and schools of volunteer heritage will operate in all regions.

The Heritage Volunteers School will start working on August 1. Its program will include 20 Russian regions; the enrollement is avialable on the website.
