Russian compatriots living in Germany joined the celebrations timed to coincide with the anniversary of the birth of Alexander Nevsky. This was reported by the Russian House in Berlin on its Facebook page. Immigrants from Russia, Orthodox believers gathered in Potsdam, where the oldest functioning Russian Orthodox church in Germany is located.

The church dedicated to the holy noble prince was erected at the beginning of the 19th century. It was built for members of the Russian community founded a century earlier. The funds for the construction of the temple were allocated by the Russian Emperor Nicholas I and the King of Prussia.

The project of the temple belongs to Vasily Stasov. Construction work was carried out under the direction of the German architect Karl Friedrich Schinkel.

The community received as a gift albums about icon painting and churches in Russia, as well as children's books. The parish choir performed a program of spiritual chants. For the youngest guests, the Russian House in Berlin organized a screening of cartoons about Alexander Nevsky.
