Another Russian honorary consulate has been opened in Mexico, RIA Novosti reports. It has become the third in a row. The Russian Embassy explained that its consular district covers the Mexican states of Puebla and Tlaxcala. Although honorary consulates do not have the authority to provide notarial consular services, it is often the honorary consul who can resolve emergency situations with Russian citizens.

An honorary consulate will operate in Puebla. According to the senior consul of the Russian Federation in Mexico Andrei Troyanovsky, there are many universities in the city, with Russian students arriving for student exchange programs.

The opening ceremony took place at the end of the week. Mexican and Russian diplomats, together with the head of the Russian diplomatic mission, Viktor Coronelli, representatives of local authorities, scientists and cultural figures, and entrepreneurs became its guests of honor.

Earlier, the consulates general were opened in the tourist state of Quintana Roo and the second most important city in the country, Guadalajara.
