Spanish collector of Zhiguli cars wins "Our Soviet Past" contest

The first prize of the "Our Soviet Past" international competition went to Alexei Shishkov, a resident of  Torrevieja (Spain), who collected a complete collection of Zhiguli cars, the Union of Organizations of Russian Compatriots of Spain and Andorra writes on its website.

The participants were invited to send the organizers photos and videos dedicated to things produced in the Soviet Union, for example, cars, books, toys, clothes, household items and other things associated with memories of childhood and adolescence.

Residents of several cities in Spain and Russia have joined the competition. Marina Cherkashina and Maria Kubareva became the winners. Olga Shuvalova, President of the Russian Alliance in the Canary Islands Association, was awarded ''for preserving the memory of the first flight of Yuri Gagarin into space.''

It was decided to make the competition annual, and some of the items presented by the participants, with their consent, will be sent to the Moscow Museum of Russian Abroad.
