Russia no longer plans to participate in the Council of Europe, the Russian Foreign Ministry said. The MFA is sure that it will ultimately destroy the organization and the humanitarian and legal space that unites Europe.

"The course of events is becoming irreversible," the diplomats added. They indicated that Russia will not tolerate the actions carried out by the Western countries. A line is being drawn towards imposing a ''rules-based order'', as a replacement for international law, which Washington and its followers from among the European states freely trample on.

Earlier, the Council of Europe stripped Russia of the right to representation in the Committee of Ministers and in PACE. The reason for this was the "invasion of Ukraine." Nevertheless, Russia has not lost the status of a member of the Council of Europe and the status of a party to the conventions of the Council of Europe, including the European Convention on Human Rights.
