Russian and Belorussian tennis players will be able to play at Wimbledon only if they declare that they do not support the operation in Ukraine, the Inosmi website reports. In addition, they must state in writing that they do not receive money from the Russian or Belarusian authorities.

But even in this case, they will not be allowed to perform under the flag of their countries.

Russian tennis player Daniil Medvedev, who is currently the world's second best, will also have to make this choice. So far, he has not spoken out about the Russian operation in Ukraine.

Sanctions against athletes from Russia and Belarus in various sports were introduced a few days after the start of Russia's special military operation in Ukraine. The International Olympic Committee sent recommendations to federations to refuse athletes from the two countries from participating in competitions. Russian Paralympic athletes were not allowed to the main starts of the four-year period - the Games in Beijing.
