The Union of European Football Associations (UEFA) announced the decision to suspend Russian clubs from participating in European cups in the upcoming 2022/23 season, as well as the exclusion of the Russian team from competitions in the League of Nations, R-Sport reports.

Due to the suspension of the national team, Russia, playing in the second group of League B, will be in a lower division. Sanctions were imposed on the men's team, the women's and youth national teams of the country.

By decision of UEFA, Russian football players, who were preparing for the championship, will not be able to play at the tournament, which will be held in July in England. The results of the qualifying tournament of the World Cup, which will be held next year, will be also annulled for the national team.

The Russian Football Union (RFU) considered the measures taken unfair and announced plans to appeal the UEFA decisions to the Court of Arbitration for Sport in Lausanne.
