Serbia is preparing for events in honor of the 350th anniversary of the first Russian emperor. A stamp with a portrait of Peter the Great will be released to honor this date. A portrait sculpture of the emperor will be unveiled in Sremski Karlovtsy, TASS reports.

Serbian Post has prepared two versions of stamps for the anniversary. A portrait of the emperor by the Serbian artist Boban Savic is placed one of them. On the second stamp, there is an image of the king by an unknown artist from the Hermitage collection. The stamps will be issued on the birthday of Peter the Great - June 9.

The monument to Peter the Great will be installed in June in the center of Sremski Karlovci, where in the 1720s the First Serbian School was built by decree of the Russian emperor. The mayor of the city, Aleksandar Stoikechich, called the trace of the Russian tsar in the history of Serbian education, church and science immeasurable.
