A flash mob in defense of the Soviet heritage is taking place in Latvia. The residents of the country are posting pictures of buildings, bridges, airports and other structures built during the Soviet era, according to the website of the Russian Union of Latvia (RUL) party.

At the end of May, the participants of a rally in the center of Riga demanded to rid the country of the Soviet legacy. The rally was authorized, while the defenders of Soviet monuments were prohibited from holding a similar event.

The RUL decided to remind that the monument to the heroes of the Great Patriotic War, which the country's authorities want to demolish, is not limited to the Soviet legacy in Latvia. The party initiated a flash mob, in which residents of the country post pictures with objects of the Soviet past.

Photographs of public and residential buildings, bridges and other infrastructure objects eloquently demonstrate what supporters of the liberation of Latvia from the Soviet legacy oppose. "Shall we tear everything down?" the authors of the flashmob ask sarcastically.
