The Candle of Memory was lit in Beijing by Russian compatriots, as well as residents of China and citizens of other countries, RIA Novosti reports. Belarusian diplomats joined the participants.

The event took place on Wednesday, June 22, on the Day of Memory and Sorrow, which is timed to coincide with the anniversary of the start of the Great Patriotic War. The memory of tens of millions of victims was honored with a minute of silence.

The event took place in the representative office of Rossotrudnichestvo. Its participants were also invited to the opening of a photo exhibition. The exhibits were unique photographs taken by war correspondents on the fronts of the Great Patriotic War. The exhibition will run until the end of the month.

A memorial event was also held in New Delhi. Diplomats, Russian citizens as well as students studying the Russian language gathered in the Russian House. They lit 22 candles and laid out rangoli, a pattern of various colors.
