Russian feta cheese was recognized as one of the best cheeses in the world, RIA Novosti reports. It won in the "Original Greek taste" category. The gold medal was awarded to Yuri Iliadi, who heads the Druzhba group of companies. It operates in the Nizhny Novgorod region.

The solemn award ceremony took place in Athens, within the framework of the World Conference of Ambassadors of the Taste of World Gastronomy. The forum with the participation of many chefs was held for the 4th time. Israel, the United States, Cambodia, Japan, China, most European countries were represented there.

The manufacturer assured that the technology fully complies with Greek standards. Yuri Iliadi said that Druzhba started working only three years ago. So far, it cannot boast of large volumes of production and produces only 60 tons of cheese annually. In the near future, it is planned to produce about 200 tons of cheese annually, since a new cheese factory will start working in a month.

Yuri Iliadi names his cheeses in honor of the ancient cities that existed on the territory of Russia: Panticapaeum, Chersonese, Olbia.
